Camel Safari & Desert Camps in Jaisalmer

After a lavish lunch at the Palace on Wheels and a short break you will be on the sand dunes! The camel ride is the best way here to leisurely explore the area with all camels and no vegetation. The most picturesque sand dunes are located some 40 km from Jaisalmer. No trip to Jaisalmer is complete without a visit to these fascinating dunes. Camel safaris are indeed the new, exciting way of casting one's footprint across the shifting sands of Rajasthan. The camels are back traversing the sands of the desert accompanied by bands of travellers for whom the escape into a wilderness where literally nothing but sand makes up the horizon. It is a rare opportunity to escape from the tamed world tone that has rough edges, and takes you squarely into the lap of nature.

Wind-caressed slopes are marked with ripples creating an enchanting mirage, a visual illusion of extraordinary splendour. The dunes can be extremely treacherous since they can sink to a few feet the moment you step over one. Occasionally you can see the dunes shifting with the strong desert winds-an astonishing feat of nature. Watching sunrise and sunset on the dunes can become etched on your memory-such an unforgettable spectacle with the great ball of light rising from behind the low hills of sand amid a perfectly still scene. A mysterious silence prevails. The safari will reveal the true rustic Rajasthan to you. As you watch the sun go down sip your tea simultaneously for one of the tranquil evenings of the splendid trip. The dinner will be a memorable one at the Moomal Tourist Bungalow with the stars in the sky and the folk sings and dances on earth.

Rajasthan's Thar is the only desert in world, which is rich in colour and culture (in most other deserts, for example, the people wear only white), and warm with the hospitality of courtly traditions. These find a reflection in the camel safari too. And the splendour of the desert combined with the experience of camping and riding in it, truly makes one of the most impressive activities for travellers. It also brings alive an era when this was the way a elements to create romantic kingdoms in the desert.
