India’s pioneer luxury train, Palace on Wheels welcomed the New Year 2017 in Indian style in the Golden City, Jaisalmer. Domestic and foreign tourists aboard the Palace on Wheels celebrated the first day of the New Year in tents on the Golden Desert. The train passengers exchanged wishes with each other, partied to the tunes of Bollywood songs, and danced till late hours of the night.

On New Year Eve, the Palace on Wheels was decorated elegantly. Tourists were served delicious platters of Indian and continental dishes. It was a unique experience to spend the New Year eve on the running train. All the 50 guests, including the 25 Americans danced and dined on board. There was also a special cake for the day.

Palace on Wheels, General Manager Pradeep Bohra said, “The train reached Jaisalmer on Sunday morning from Udaipur. All the guests were given a warm traditional welcome with ‘tika’ and garlands. The tourists were thrilled at the sight of camels waiting for them.”

Special arrangements were made to make the New Year memorable. In the evening tourists enjoyed dinner and exotic dance performances by Kalbeliya dancers. Langa Manganiyar singers, the legendary musicians of the desert also performed for them. The New Year was celebrated in the signature style of Indian traditions.
